Example
1
Students4Giving,
a philanthropic education initiative of Campus Compact, in collaboration
with the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund. Our goal is to provide
active learning opportunities for students to engage in the
philanthropic process. Through courses and some co-curricular
programming, students at each participating campus conduct needs
assessments, design Requests for Proposals, review applications
from local nonprofits, and award up to $15,000 in grants each
year. They also work to replenish the fund throughout the term.
To date, fifteen colleges have been part of the program.
Example 2
I am excited to be working with our local United
Way to set up an on-campus Philanthropy Corps that mirrors the
local United Way Allocations process. We will be fundraising
at campus events and the dollars raised will go into one pool
for the students in the Corps to allocate. Local non-profits
will be submitting proposals for projects that need funding
and the students will allocate the dollars through a process
they will develop in the Spring Semester. We're starting out
the Corps with a retreat to discuss the connectedness of Leadership
and Philanthropy.
